I watched this video on YouTube and I was so overwhelmed by the owner John Nese.  I mean, this guy exudes optimism and the American Dream.  He said NO to Pepsi.  He said NO to Coca Cola.  His shops slogan, “The Freedom of Choice”, is iconic!

Here’s 3 simple things that I love most about John Nese and Galco’s Soda Pop Stop:

#1 – He basically tells Big Business to “go to hell”.

He doesn’t want big business to limit his customers choices.  He doesn’t want a monopoly of what soda’s he can and can not offer.  When he says, “Big Business loves big government.  They just take the marketplace up.  Eliminate all the little guys then they jack the prices up and control the market.”  I love John Nese because “I want to do business with other businesses that are my size.” – He’s AWESOME!!!

#2 – “The important thing is to set yourself apart and provide your customers with something nobody else has.”

What is the best flavor for you?  Which flavor makes you go – I love THAT one.  John’s philosophy is “try all these and then decide which is best for you.” – well, if the giants of beverage control the flavors, you simply can’t choose what you don’t have.  John Nese gives the customer OPTIONS.

#3 – Forget “recycling.” – If we really cared about the environment we should try “re-use.”

CRV stands for California Redemption Value. California Redemption Value (CRV) is a deposit paid on purchases of certain recyclable beverage containers in California. John’s proposal to have “re-use” instead of recycling is much more cost effective and efficient yet California state laws do not allow him to do so. Is it any wonder he’s not a fan of big government?
